Mike, Dana, and former vocalist Johnny O formed the Gator Alley Band in 1994. Although these three members had been playing music together in one form or another for over 20 years. They had decided to go back to their roots in the southern rock genre. This gave birth to The Gator Alley Band, A Southern Rock Tribute. After relocating the band to San Francisco's North Bay, we started putting together what we considered the best lineup the band has ever had. We added Cutty, Larry, Michelle, Mel, Jason, and John. Now known as The Gator Alley Band - A Tribute To Lynyrd Skynyrd. For those who have wondered how we arrived at the band's name. Well, the name came from a stretch of highway in Southern Florida that runs through Everglades National Park known as Alligator Alley. Bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, Molly Hatchet, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Charlie Daniels Band, The Outlaws, and of course the legendary Allman Brothers Band, were the primary source of musical influence for the band in the early days. The Gator Alley Band philosophy was to reproduce the music as close to the original artists as humanly possible. To achieve this goal, it meant some serious dedication to learning the finer detail of this unique style of music, which we believed would separate us from the average cover band. Anyone familiar with this music knows this would not be an easy task. This also meant using the same type of instruments and amplification to achieve the monumental sound of the south. So in a true to form style, The Gator Alley Band brings back the memories of the sounds of the south that should not and will not be forgotten. The Gator Alley Band is sure to leave a sweet southern ring in your ear.
